Executive Actions at the U.S. Southern Border

President Trump implemented multiple executive actions regarding the U.S. southern border. These actions directly affect migrants trying to enter the United States. President Trump proclaimed that there is an “invasion” at the U.S. southern borders. In turn, the proclamation restricts entry at the southern border because of the invasion as well as public health and safety grounds. President Trump has created additional restrictions to migrants trying to enter the U.S. including the conclusion of the CBP One App mobile applications and termination all categorical parole programs.

President Trump proclaimed a national border emergency at the U.S. southern border authorizing the use of military to combat the border emergency. The ongoing emergency includes criminal gangs, cartels, human traffickers, smugglers and other groups. President Trump assigned United States Northern Command to patrol the borders because of the national border emergency.
