An H1B holder can be transferred from one company to another in a relatively short amount of time. This is because the H-1B holder can legally resume work for the new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, as long as he or she maintains a valid H1B status with the existing employer.
In these terms, it merely means that if all sides involved in the process respond quickly, quickly, and efficiently, the possibilities of the foreign citizen employee starting work immediately, and possibly within one or two weeks, are high.
